MAKRIACtON si 2 A WEEK
There has been considerable li
eussion in the Philadelphia north
American on the qucstiou whether a
youug man whose income does oof
exceed $12 a week should many.
There seems to be a preponderance
of doubt whether two persons can
live ou 1 12 a week and be happy.
In the discussion, women who had
daughters oi a marriageable age and
aspiring daughters themselves took
the ground that a young man having
an income of $12 a w eek should as
sume marital relations. This is suf
ficient, they argue, to assure connu
bial bliss. The yoUPg men them
selves seem to look at the matter
through different colored glasses.
To the people of Snyder county,
no doubt, the discussion would be
more nearly one-sided owing to the
tact that most of the young men and
in fact nearly all of them jump into
the matrimonial harness on a much
less income than $12 jer week.
Whether bliss always follows we
have no means of knowing, but as
there are on an average only four or
five divorces a year granted by the
courts, we presume there is as much
happiness on an incoi le of less than
$12 a week than there is on one of
larger proportions. The truth of
the matte: is that happiness does not
