Harvey E. Eberly of Beaver
Springs was in town Thursday of
last week. Mr. Eberly has been
one ot Snyder County's best busi
ness men in the creamery business at
Adamsburg, but on Monday of this
week he moved his effects to Denver,
Lancaster County, Pa., where he will
make his future home. We regret
lo lose so valuable a citizen.
The cantata "Bethlehem" was
rendered in the court house on
Christmas evening by a chorus re
presenting the Lutheran Sunday
school. The singers were attired in
Oriental costume which made a very
UDique appearance, lhe singing
was well rendered and all who were
connected with the project deserve
the highest praise. M. L rotter
was the director.
C. CL Seebold and family of Sun-
bury spent Sunday with relatives at
this place. Charley says he loaded
himself up with the many good
things that Mrs. John Runkle had
nrenared Sunday. Mr. Seebold is
building up an extensive trade in
the musical instrument business at
Sunbury and is now erecting a large
brick structure on third street to lie
used as a place of business and a
residence.
With this issue, the Post enters
upon its 37th volume. It is now
36 yean since it is called the. Post.
Before that time it was called the
Unin Demokrat and was a German
Whigpapw,eatabKshedabou' 1844
at New Berlin. Hence It is 56
years since this paper was establish
ed. We dan re to thank the many
friends of the Post who so nobly
have supported it and are still lend.

L' aer Mertz Dies Suddenly.
aither Mertz of Ccntreville had
been to Shamokin for seveial weeks
and was returning to his home last
Thursday. Coming trom the after
noon train he stooped a few minutes
at the Washington House where he
was suddenly overcome with a para
lytic stroke, He became unconscious
from which he never recovered, hav
ing died Saturday evening about 7
o clock. 1 he stroke was his third
and it is unusual for a man as young
as he was to be so early in life
stricken with paralysis. The body
was removed to Ccntreville ton very
sad home Sunday afternoon to his
grief-stricken widow and dependent
children.
Mr. Mertz was a young man of
industrious habits, an active repub
lican, a dcyoted father of two chil
dren and a. faithful husband. De
ceased was buried Tutsdav at Cen-
treville amid sorrowing hosts of
friends. He served lor several
months as engineer at the shoe fac
tory and was well liked. Deceased
was about 35 years of age.

On Sunday evening of the old
year, at eight o'clock, E. D. H. Wal
ter, Esq., of Franklin township, and
Miss Irene Beaver, daughter of'Wm.
H. Beaver, merchant, and wife, were
united in the lionds of holy matri
mony by Rev. D. E. McLain, the
pastor of the Lutheran church. The
groom is a surveyor and one of the
Justices of the Peace of Franklin
township and a model young man
while the bride is a young lady of
excellent character. The Post ex
tends its best wishes to the young
couple for a happy and delightful
journey down life's pathway.
