two former occasions tho Post gave
large prizes of scholarships to teach
ers and prospective teachers. Tho
first was won by V. V. Smith, theu
a teacher of this borough. Tho
second offer consisted of tv prizes
and were won by A. W. Gill of Mid-
dleswaith and . I. Zochman of
Troxelvillo. These scholarships were
given at Bloomsburg State Normal
School, and wore designed especial

arrangements could be mudo to buy

for $2000, (5500 in cash and $1,100 to

cost for putting up tho buildings

shape was estimated to bo about

raise $3000 before any attempt will
bo mado to undertake tho fair. Sub

dleburgh on Monday and it is ex
poctod that $1000 can bo raised in

Tho shares will bo sold ut ten
($10.ih)) dollars each. Tha holder f
each sharo will bo entitled to two
admission tickets good for every day
at the annual fairs. Any person can
buy us many shares as ho or she do
sires and in that way get more tick
ets which can bo sold or transferred
if desired. No dividends aro prom
ised, but they will bo declared if tho
procoods of the fair will permit.
Snyder county has not had a fair
for many yoars and every oncourago
inent should be given to tho project.

Expensive Freight Wreck.
Tho largest wreck that has oc
curred on the Lowistown Division
for rears came to pass one-half
milo west of Paxtonvillo on Tuesday
evening at i:30. It was probably
due to a broken axle. Thirteen
loaded freight cars wore wrecked
and smashed together ou a pile.
The wreckage consisted of a con
glomeration of cool, coke and sower
pipes. Tho track and earth was
torn up to the depth of five feet.
The passengers on Wednesday
morning were transferred and late
in the afternoon trains were again
permitted to run unmolested.
