and Lebanon, coming to Sehnsgrove
in 18.U. January pth, 1841, he was
married to Maria Gingrich, the
fruits of which marriago were four
ri.o of whom are still living,
Charles having died when aged 5
years. The deceased lived for a

but, feeling the necessity of owning

A. Sardy, of Lowisburg, tho fruits of
this marriago were three daughters.

small and inconvenient, in 1870 he
built a comfortable three story
brick. Tho great firo of 1874 swept
all away and ho had to begin lifo
55 veurs old. Surely dis
couraged, but possessod of indomit
able will and energy, he raisod from
theashestho pleasant homo which
stands an honor to his courago and
perseverance. Among tho many
years of his residence at Seliusgrovo
he filled many positions of trust and
never forfeited tho confidence repos
ed in him. For a number of years
he collected tho County and Bor
ough taxes. In 1M0, assisted by his
son, AmautesM., ho made tho Cen
sus enumeration for the Borough,
Union, l'enn, Washington and
Chapman township. Ho was for
three successive terras elected as
Justice-of-the-reace. and tho title
of "Squire Eby" was always given
him. IIo united with Lafayette
Lodge. 194, F. & A. M. in 1847, for
48 years being a true and consistent
Mason, being tho oldest member
and Fast Master of this Lodgo. Ho
was honest and just in his dealings
with men, a true and loving hus
band, and a good and indulgent pa
rent. He leaves a good and loving
wife, tho companion of his joys and
Borrows for 38 years, bi children
and a large circle of friends to
mourn his loss. James W., tho eld
est son is living in California, Aman
da M., Treasurer of tho Co. Pardee
