Geo. W. Waoknmeller,
Dear Siu:
I returnod homo from State Nor

more than pleased with tho manner
of instruction received and the frco
scholarship.
Last winter when you made tho
offor in your valuable paper, many
people doubted your word, but you
havo shown to thorn that your offers
are as good a gold. Not only havo
you proven yourself iu word to bo
true ; but also in action. Tho read
ers now, I presume, will say as did
Shakespeare, "thou art an houorablo
man." After I was at school a fow
weeks and saw what, things wero to
bo learned I wishod that every teach
er ia Snyder county could spend
just one term nt Blocmsburg Stato
Normal School. This i an ago of
progress in educational matters.
Any ono wishing to l.(oomo a man
or a woman must edm-ate. Edward
Everett was right wnen ho said,
"lit a land like ours w e must edu
cate, or wo perish." "Wo aro not
educated,'' savs one, "unt il wo know
how to live correctly." Many there
aro who have n t learned this sim
ple fact.

We do not profess to b i able to
create teachers in tho short period
of four weeks, indied that would be
imnossible. Our sola aim is to re
viow the underlying principles of
elotnontary education, to give, if
possible, a wider range of vision,
intellectually, and to praetieallv ap
ply tho ideas and oncoptious of our
greatest oducators on teaching and

that in tho discussions arising from
tho consideration of the various
branehos great out jiHiami and love
for tho teacher's profession m i f be
