Should There I Somebody to Look
After County Bridges?
If there wiih some ono to rcular

tlii'county it would save much money.
Often the prompt repair of slightly

Hum later. Almont everybody ran re

own observation where if hoiuo one
had promptly reported n damaged

ami prevented its being 8 wept away
by a subsequent flood.
If the county Lad a Hridge Com
missioner Le would save his salary
many times over in this way in tho
course of a year, if he were faithful
iu attending to his duties.
Would it not be well if we had

couuty that is laid upon them. They
respond to all calls to visit damuged
bridges and repair them promptly
but nino times out of ten nobody
calls attention to it until tho bridges
become impassable or damaged.
Discard Bangs.
A New York exchange says that a
physician there advises mothers to
discard bangs, even for their small
est daughters, these very littlo girls
being the only ones whom fashion,
at the moment, permits to wear
them. There are, it seems, sensitive
nerves ubout tho eyebrows which
are weakened when tho hair is long
enough to rest upon them.
TheHo nerves directly concern tho
sight, and that important function
is more or less tampered with by this
constant though slight weight of
hair. And another physician inveighs
against another practice, which has
never been regarded as having any
especially serious effects that of
having night lights in children's
bedrooms. Instoad of allowing the
optic nerves tho perfect rest aflorded
by darkness tho light keeps them in
perpetual stimulation, with the re
sult of causing tho brain and the
rest of the nervous system to suffer,
