Easter-day, wuh rather cold and
unpleasant, but that did not inter
fere with tho exercisen of tho Sun
day School iu tho evening. A splen
did program wan rendered in an ex
cellent stylo. All tho participants
acquitted themselvcH very success
fully considering that tho tinio al
lotted for preparations was very
limited. Row A. K. Zimmerman's
address was a master piece of ora
tory, but tho crowning event was a
hymn sung by little Cattio I3inga
aman, a child four years old. Tho
infant school was treated to colored
eggs and candies. .. .Jacob Binga
man, who had a stroke of palsy, a
week ago last Friday, is improving,
and attended services iu church on
last Sunday. If the weather will
permit, there will bo considerable
oats sown this week. . . .Last week,
there were 4 shots tired at me at a
distance of about six miles. Tho
shots were fired from tho strong
fort at Middloswarth, in Centre
township ; but as the distance is so
groat, and the calibre of the gun bo
very small, that the bad shooting
which was done, only goes to show,
that the great general, who com
mands the fortress can not be a grad
uate of any Military school. Such
shots I enjoy as pleasant amuse

Many of our old boatmeu havo cx
oreiso with the pump since the water
has been let into the canal. . . . Woaie
glad to note that John S. Arnold
foriuely a citizen of herehas accepted
a very lucrative position with a
Washington (I). C.,) specialist. This
engagement however, will not sever
his collegiate aspirations but will
tend to make thetii Inoro intense.
John is climbing the ladder to wealth
and fame, whilo others are craving
opportunities only to neglect them
. . . .Easter eve found one half of our
popiilaco enjoying a cantata in
Ilerndon, and tho other half op
preeiating the unrestricted pleasures
of the apron party at J. O. Nipple's
The success of the cantaH is an evi
dence that tint Mite society, under
whose auspices it wns In 1.1, is indeed
becoming a "Might" in a good
cause. .. .Wo have several persons
iu otiv town wlio would mako un
commonly good recruits for Coxey's
aiin. Should they manifest any
desire in that direct inn. Thecitizens
would undoubtedly favor each Cox
eylike inclination with sufficient fin
ancial aid to get, beyond the confines
of the. county. It oi rlainly would be
a good riddance of bad material ....
Truth is often stranger than fiction.
Thus in the ease of several young
1 id who posessed an innate desire
t celebrate hi iVggs tra vagau t'Easlor,
made appropriations from tho daily
gatheiings until they had several
dozens acquired, snugly hidden
away in th" barn. By tho time
Eatcr had made its appearance, the
egg-i, mystcriouy dissapearcd. It
a:i ut first suggested that a neigh
bor's hen had discovered the nestand
by close application to tho situation
had converted the eggs into spring
chickens which had apparently es
caped. Rut circumstantial evidence
soon proved the fallacy uf tho con
clusion, and n nv several boys aro
striving to prove facts identical with
their innocence. Rittek Sweet.

Tho attention of all Sunday Sehool

An interesting program is in course

degrees in tho shade has chanced to

is very hard on tho fruit.... -er
services, wu. h proved to be an in

Tim strongest recommendation that
any article can have is ttie endorse
mentottliH mothers of the town.
When the mot tiers recommend it you
may know that that article has more
than ordinary merit. Here is what
the Ceutrville, Mouth Dakota, Citizen
says editorially of an article sold in
their town : "From personal ex
perlence we can say that Chamber
lulu's Cough Remedy has broken up
bad eolds for our children. We are
acquainted witli many mothers in
t'eiiterville who would not be without
it intiie house for a good many times

Three days Is n very short time In
which to cure a bad case of rheuma
tism ; but it can be done, if the prop
er treatment is adopted, as will be
seen by the following from James
Lambert, of New Hrunswick, 111.: "I
was badly ulllicted with rheumatism
in the hips and legs, when I bought a
bottle of Chamberlain's l'a In Balm.
It cured me in three days. 1 am all
right to-day ; and would Insist on
every one who is alllicted with that
terrible disease to use Chamberlain's

"The people of this vlohilty Insist

says John V. Hlshop, of l'ortlaud

know It to be superior to any others
