SALUTATORY.
In making our editorial bow to tho
intelligent readers of tho Post, we
do it w ith a great deal of humility,
yet with plenty of ambition to main
tain, and if possible to increase the
utility.of this already popular sheet.
The readers of tho Post cannot lose
so able nn editor as Mr. 1 tarter has
proven himself to be without missing
him. Ho hnt been called to a w ider
field to exercise his talent ainl the
present management fully lealizes
that to please oil the renders of tlii
widely circulated paper is no easy
task; but the new linn modestly as
sumes tho matith) of control but
firmly asserts its position as an nd
vocato of the right and a denouncer
of the wrong way of lining things.
Poth members of the firm have been
born, bred ami raised upon Snyder
county soil ami their sole interests
me one and tho same with those of
the citizens of tho county. Tin1
politics of the paper is no secret. It
is Jit-publican. Vet it reserves the
privilege of asterting its honest con
victions upon all tpiestioiis affecting
tiie interests of the peopln and the
welfare of the public. It shall be
our constant aim. and a vigilant t ye
shall be continually exercised, that
no untruth be uttered in these col
umns mid that nothing be withheld
which properly belongs to the pub
lic gae.
On the other hand, the paper docs
not propose to be meddlesome, but
intends to pursue a straight-forward
course which will merit the appro
bation and applause of an eager miil
titudc. To the people of Middleburgh who
so generously extended tho hand of
welcome, and the many warm wisiies
for our f ut urtt success and prosperity
in their midst, we reply that wo shall
endeavor to show our high appreci
ation of their gratitude by serving
them faithfully ami well in the ca
pacity which we have chosen.
To the newspaper brethren of this
and adjoining counties wo send
greeting with the fondest hope that
our mutual relations may prove both
pleasant ami agreeable.
In conclusion, may our readers
permit us to add that tho columns
of tho Post will bo open for discus
sion upon all tmestions tending to
ward the public welfaro.lt shall ever
stand as the exponent of what is
right and honorable.
