erection of frame buildings the old
stable having beeu of wood. He
wan asked to estimate the cost of a
brick stable, and reported the

dollars. Tho agent then notified
Shmidt that he would build him a
now brick Ktable in place of the old
frame one, but Shmidt became very
iudiguant at the proposition Hay
ing,
"I do not understand this iuBuruuco
business. I pay you for nine hund
red dollars, and when my stablo burn
down you make me a now one. I
dout want a new stable, I want nine
hundred dollars."
Tho agent reasoned with Shmidt,
but all to no purpose. When tho
stable was about finished Shmidt
went to consult a lawyer, thinking
that ho cnuli still got the amount
of tho policy besides having a new
stable.
The lawyer, however informed
him that tho company had n right
to make good the loss by building a
now stable, and expressed surprise
at finding suit against them
'But."said Shmidt, "I insure for
nine hundred dollar, aud dis feller
rut up dim shtable for seven hun
died aud fifty I do not understand
the insurance business,
Finding that he could not compell
tho payment by law, ho became
disgusted with the insurance alto
gethor. Calling upon tho agent,
Shmidt said,
"Mr. Agent, I want you to stop
