Last Friday morning as Jeremiah Moyer (commonly called Charles, and who resides on J. (1. Moyer' s farm at this place) was watering his horses at a creek about twenty rods west of his barn, an accident hap pened to him that is hard to explain. Mr. Moyer usually left his horses run loose to tho water, aud very of ten after they had drank, they took a run up to what is known as the "sand hill." To avoid this, Mr. Moyer took tho one that always took tho lead to the water at the halter. This is Moyer's story in his out except Harry, whom I led to the creek at the lalter. When I came to the creek, I led him across the bridge into tho creek from the west side. All the other horses had finished drinking and started to the barn, I was standing on tho bridge w hile the horse drank, and when ho was dono drinking, I throw the chain of tho halter over bis neck and left him to follow the other horses and this is the last I can recollect." Now this can not posibly be the real facts, as the circumstances which followed will show. When Mr. Moyer was discovered by one of his boys, lie w as dow n on his bauds and knees about seven steps on the east side of the bridge all covered with blood, and the blood still issuing from his nostrils and one ear. When the boy asked his father what had happened, he replied that Harry had kicked him. Tho boy ran to the house and told his mother w hat had happened, and vhen she came on the scene she found Mr. Moyer staggering along the fence which ho used as a support, but soon sunk down aud could go no further. Mrs. Moyer called for help, whereupon Mr. Moyer said "don't holler so," of which Moyer does not know any thing about now. James M. Mat tern and James L. Ocker were call ed and helped Mr. Moyer to his house and into bed where ho lay in a stupor for about twenty-three hours. Dr. Miller was called, and upoir a close examination found that no bones were broken. Mr. Moyer is very badly cut above tho right eye, aud both sides of his head and face is badly skinned. Tho skin from tho upper sido of his left hand is almost eutirely torn off. I visited Mr. Moyer on Sunday, and thought him to bo u very sick mau, but Dr. Miller assured his family that he will pull through all right. Mr. Moyer has now recovered his reason and stoutly denies that ho was kick ed, but does not know what has happened. . . .Albert Swartz is down with typhoid fever Measels nro very previlent at this place at pies ent On Saturday evening our baud was at Laurel ton, and ground out music for a festival.
