TIICItSPAY AKTEKNOOX. Opened by music Thursday af ternoon was set apart for directors' day. Their organization resulted as follows : Chairman Dr. Tool. Sec. M. K. Hassingcr. Supt. Herman addressed the directors on County Uniformity of Text books. After listning to the opinions of a number of directors, a motion was made by Dr. Shindle, that each board of the county should elect one of their body to meet in the court house Monday evening of court week to make some arrangement to adopt a uniformity of text books. Tho mat ter passed unanimously. Tho fol lowing topics were then discussed by directors : "Location of school houses" by Dr. Tool. "Qualification of teachers ns judged from a direc tor's standpoint," by Dr. Shindle. Tho factors of a successful life, by F. E. Uower. The directors were then addressed by Prof. Uible, fol lowed by music. Supt. Peck then addressed the directors, after which he made his fare-well nddress to the Institute. Steck of Shamokiu, delivered his famous lecture, entitled, "Tho hero recog nized and unrecognized." Music by Uand. FRIDAY FOItEXOOX. Tho opening exercised were con ducted by Rev. Orwig. M. I. Potter took up tho subject of "Thorough ness in teaching," responded by Supt. Herman. After tho Institute sang the song entitled, "Chime again beautiful Bells," the com mittee on permanent certificated made tho following announcement, "that the examination would take place in Selinsgrove on the first Sat urday in March, INK), that the aver age per cent, should not be less than 85 per cent., that in no one branch should be below 75 per cent, and that a thesis, of at least 700 words, should be prepared from which tho penmanship would be judged."
