days last week. She left for Has
tings, Cambria county, where she
will keep house for her father.
The committee to purchase furni
ture for tlieKvangelical church, con
sisting of the Secretary, Treasurer
and President of the Mite Society,
made their trip to Lewistown on
Saturday. They Sumlayed in Mil
roy, also satisfied themselves as to
the power and beauty of nature by
visiting Hagney's cave. Before leav
ing Muroy, they visited the busiest
spot in that place, the knitting fac
tory. Thev say the girls talk ami
laugh louder than the machinery
roars, and of course we believe it.
Mr. W. II. Felix gave them very
reasonable prices on the goods, and
presented a brusscl rug lor the pul
pit in the bargain. He is undoubt
edly a tine man. They had a nice
time but are "strapped" financially.
Albert Martin, who was workim;
in the foundry at Danville, met with
a sad accident on Thursday, Sept.
'J!. He jumped on the elevator after
it had started, and was caught and
squeezed into u space of about three
inches. His IsjweU and body were
crushed, but he lived, and ws con
scious till h ridav noon, w lieu death
came to his relief. He wan brought
home on Saturday, and buried on
Tuesday. Funeral services by Revs.
S. 1 Orwnr and J. U. M. Hwengel.
He leaves a sorrowing father, mother,
brother and sister to mourn his
early departure. Albert will be
missed by a great many young
friends, associates, and by the whole
community, lie was a hue young
man. kind and obedient. He was
called away in the morning of Lis
life, being only 20 years, I mouth,
and 24 davs of ace. Ave deeply sym
nathize with tne gnei-stricKen
friends and would point them to
Him. who alone is able to comfort
