The farmers are still busy harvest

next morning. They say "it rlies
like blazes."
Three gypsy families are camping
near I'lnch's tannery. Horse trad

Dr. Sampsel has added an attrac

ty, occupied the pulpit in the Evan
gelical church on Sunday morning.

The Iron ore mines have again
commenced work.
The brick layers have commenced

Lowell. Amos Snook's dam wan i
washed away by the rain we had- on
last Friday evening.
W. O. Smith had a valuable cow
lie last week. Billy says that will
not detain him from attending to all
that may give him a call to have
their wheat cut with hia new self-binder.
There was very little hay stored
away last week around here on ac
count of wet weather.
The farmers are busy cutting
wheat for the past few days. At
this writing some are through cut
ting and hauling in.
The Fourth past off as usual. The
boys had a big time at the Hall.
Miss Lucy Ooss paid her old
friends a visit in our town before
leaving for tho West, which will be
in the near future.
Mrs. Hubert Ooss w as much sur
prised a few evenings ago by a
circle of friends calling on her the
number being about 70. Her birth-
ilay was the cause. Robert says,
"now cat, drink, and be merry, for
to-morrow you may die." U. No.
Hummels Wharf. Mr. Harry A.
Schuck, son of S. 13. Schuck is read
ing law with Hon. S. P. Wolverton,
Sunbury, Pa. Harry is a young
man of good moral character, well
qualified for tho profession, and we
know he will succeed.
Miss Mary J. Hummel, a sister of
Mrs. S. B. Schuck died at Williams
port, Pa., July '2nd. Miss Hummel
was a very intelligent young lady,
she was a faithful member of the
Presbyterian church, and was never
absent from her church or Sunday
School unless prevented by sickness,
leaves many friends to mourn her
loss. As a token of respect many
choice flowers were placed upon her
casket, and while tho casket was
lowered to the grave showers of
flowers followed it. She was a chris
tian, and died very happy, she clos
ed her eves in death with tho assur
ance of a happy home in Heaven,
leaving a beautiful smile upon up
on her face. S.
