Miss Kate Bowersox of Paxtonvllle
will open a select school, commenc

primary room. Miss Bowersox has
been tending two Normal Sessions
In Mlddleburgh, and Is at present go
ing to school at New Berlin. She
will certainly make a good primary
teacher, and parents will make no
mistake by sending their children to
her.

Stetler's Cornet Band, assisted by
the "Corn cracker Minstrels," will
give a grand Conceit In Seebold's
Hall, next Monday evening. They
have on extensive program, consisting
of four racy farces, Interspersed with
comic songs, quartetts, choruses, etc.
The entertainment will be doubly
worth the price of admission, which
is 20 cents for adults, reserved seats
1, children 10. deserved seats on
sale at Post Office.

Bkavichtown. Philip Kinney died
of old ago on Thursday a week aud
was burled on SaMirduy following.
He was a. native of Selinsgrove and
was born in 1813. When he was a
young man his parents moved to the
vicinity of Beavertown, where Philip
opened a blacksmith shop. Ho after
wards moved to town, where be con
tinued his vocation until a number of
years ago. He was well known
throughout the county and served
0110 term as county commissioner.
Rev. Mummu served at the funeral.
William E. llerbster has been seri
ously sick with pneumonia for overa
week. At this writing be is bettor.
Liucolu Freed aud Miss Jane
Wetzel were Joined in holy wedlock
on Thursday evening. Rev. Landis
tied the knot. We wish them a de
lightful and prosperous voyage dowu
a tranquil matrimonial stream.
John Wieaud lost a valuable 2-year
old colt by death recently. It is tho't
to have hurt itself on the ice.
Fraley Strieker, who has been Ium
berlng at Beech Creek, Clinton coun
ty, returned homo last week with one
of the bones in his foroMirm fractured.
He was kicked by a mule.
Mrs. Henry Weaver has been con
fined to her bed for sometime, suffer
ing from a heavy oold.
Charlie, a sou of Edward Freed,
has been sick with pneumonia for
several weeks. He is about again.
William Youngman, who for the last
five years has been olerklug for A. 11.
Bowersox, has purchased J. W.
Snook's general store at Millheitu
Centre county, lie will move to
Mlllheim early in April.
Mary, a daughter of William Gil
bert, is seriously sick with paeuuio
nia. The friends of Mrs. Jas. O. llerbster
honored her with a surprise birthday
party one evening recently. On the
same evening, Rev. Mumma's oon
gregatloa gave uhn a purse of eight
dollars as a birthday present. Jacob
Fees, Jr. has also been surprised re
oently by his friends, who brotiglit
with them about f 13, worth of house
hold necessities.
Mrs. Moses Specht and Mrs. Will
lain II. Specht have been sick, but
are able to be about again.
Howard, a son of Rev. N. Young,
Is quite sick 1 so Is Jennie, a daugh
ter of Jacob Blngaman.
