In referring to the editorial which
appeared in last week's Leviisburg
Local News relative to tbo likeli
bood of Hon. C. S Wolfe returniug
to the Republican party, Monday's
Pbila. 'Times' says:
'The Lewinburg 'News' contains
rather significant paragraph which
intimates that Charles S. Wolfo lias
grown weary kicking against tbe
prioks and predicts tbat before long
be will 'again lift his head from
among tbe plumed standard-bearers
of Republicanism.' He has it ia as
eerted, 'been beaten from piller to
post with snob unmerciful rotriba
tive force tbat all bis 'principles ob
joctiohable to ft Republican huvi
been forsaken and he is about ready
to bolt bis crow, feet feathers find
all, without either sauce or salt
There is plenty of comfort in this
for tho boys but tbe men who know
Wolfo will watij some word from
mm berore swallowing toe story en
tirely. It woold be refreshing of
coarse to bear tbe Union county
leader alluding to Cameron and
Quay as the only statesmen in tbe
land, and to read inspired articles
from bi" P"Q knocking the theory of
prohibition to smithereens. It
wonld also be very sweet to see
Wolfe . aud Beaver full upon eaoh
others neck's and weep while the
organs played some jubilant strain
in memory or the bappy days gone
by. Bat it woald be wise, perhaps,
not to begin tbe strain last yet; if
for tbe only reason that doubtful
things are mighty uncertain'

great aB it can bear that tbo more
conservative ef the Eastern loan
companies are restricting their busi
ness. The insurance companies cf
Hartford, Conn., alone have $70,000,
UOU in Western farm mortgages, a
few companies ia Boston have $76,
000,000, wbilo rocky and semi-barren
New Hampshire has enough invest
dl ii tue same way to buy ball a
State.
Tbo reason tbat W. K. Vander-
bilt docs not buy an estate ia Kng
liutl is said to be because aliens
cannot ovn land in Great Uiitiau.
This in very rrood law. It saves to
Engbtud ber valuable land and pre
vouta Mr. Vanderbilt fieui making a
show of bimaolf by tryiog to pry bis
way into tbe English aristooracy by
the landed proprietorship wedge
We might adopt the same law wilb
much advantage to ourselves. It
would Siivo us many thousaod acres
ot excellent land and would not givc-
KogliHbinen a wedge by which to
introduce thsir vicious system of
foreign landlordism.

quadruple these rates and at that
proportion for all greater weight.
At those rates it woold cost about
one dollar to send a letter weighing

Imagine young trau, your best

already written and your pooket book
