the bridge across Allddlecreek near
Long's. The bridge is complete in
every detail, but to the builders, we

former citizen of the west end of the
county, is visiting his frieuds here

what rapidity he is hauling the stone,
uud at much less cost then they could
be delivered otherwise.
Badly Blkxud On Monday after
noon, while Mrs. Samuel Kowen of
Franklin, wus engaged in burning
catapillars, the straw stack In some
manner took fire, and in endeaver
ing to outen it she was severely
burned about the face and hands.
Had it not been for some persons
passing along the road at the time
the barn would undoubtedly have
beed destroyed, as the straw stack
was almost against the barn. The

While Charley Erb and Wellington
Smith were returning from camp
meeting on Sunday evening they met
with an aocident about 2 miles south
of town that might have resulted
more seriously. Just before reaching
the farm of Philip ylmlg the road is
very narrow and runs along the brow
of a large hill and here In some way
they got alongside of tho road, upset
ting the buggy, throwing the occu
pants, horse and all down the steep
eobankment, completely wrecking
the boggy. The boys received nasty
cuts and bruises, but fortonately es

Two months ago William II. Nogle,
son of David Nagle of Freeburg, left
his parental home to seek employment
In the west, tie found work at Elk
hart, Ind., at f 28 per month. Think
ing that Akron was a more congenial
place he started eastward and while
crossing the railroad track in chang
ing cars at Cleveland on the 21 hoi
July he stumbled and fell. A parsing
train came along and crushed his
right arm. He was taken to the St.
Vincent hoKpital where his arm was
amputated. He remained in the hos
pit al sixteen days when his arm was
sufficiently healed to warrant his de
parture for home, arriving here on

Wednesday morning, at about U
o'clock, a fatal accident occurred at
Mitchell's crossing west of Puxton
ville, this county. The facts a wo
got them are about as follows : Mrs.
Henry Krat.er of Adams township
was on her way to pay a visit to her
son, Simon Kratzsr, who resides on
Absalom Snyder's farm, a short dis
tance west of Paxtonvillo and reach
ed tho above crossing with I.oml
freight coming east, iu sight, bell
ringing and whistle blowing, but she
attempted to cross the track, when
tho engine struck the front wheel,
throwing the buggy, horse and occu
pant a groat distauco from the track,
breaking Mrs. K's lower jaw, right leg
and ai ui, besides receiving internal
injuries from which she died within
an hour after tiie acclduut. The
horse was also killed and the buggy
completely wrecked. Mrs, Kratzer
was aged about CO years.
