Nevin Laidig and family, of Andover spent a part of last Sun day at lliram Laidig's and attend ed the Sunday school at Laidig in the afternoon. Elmer King spent last' week with his father, George King at Minersville. We were pleased to meet our friends George Laidig and wife, of Jeannette, Pa., at the picnic last Saturday. City life seems to agreo with them. Mrs. Minnie Buckley and her brother J. Frank Mayne, of Shelby, Iowa; Rev. Charles May ne and son John, of Griswold, Iowa; Samuel Mayne, of Dun cannon, Pa., Varian Hoover, of Hustontown, and Miss Annie Mayne, of Fort Littleton, spent a short time last Sunday after noon in the home of their aunt Mrs. Eliza Hoover. Frank has been in the West thirty five years. He has a large hardware and furniture store in Shelby. Charlie farms during the week and preaches on Sunday. Mrs. Buckley (Minnie) is a sister of the Mayne boys and was a form er Fulton County teacher. Mrs. George Raker and chil dren of Kearney visHrd the fami ly of Mrs. Martha Liidig last week. StellaLanders, of Gracey spent Sunday with David llershey's family. Norman Brick9r, ot Chambers burg spont a weok recently with the family of David Hershey. Dowling Johnson, wife and baby, of McKees Rocks; Lee B Johnson and daughters Esther and Florence, Miss LonaWard and Mr. Stahlman all of Home stead are spending a week at the Johnson farm near Laidig. Davy Hershey has killed more Snakes since our last report He killed a rattlesnake and a copper head on his mail route, and Grant Hoover killed a rattlesnake this week. This makes four each for Grant and Davy. Leroy Edwards and family and Mrs. James Edwards all of Johnstown spent several days recently with the family of Joseph Edwards. The Sunday school picnic at Faiaview last Saturday was a great success. There was a fes tival in the evening which was generously patronized. Work of the Exemption Board. The local exemption board com posed of Frank M. Lodge, J. L. Garland and Dr. J. W. Mosser, with H. S. Alexander and Lewis Harris clerks, is putting in full time this week. The board com pleted, the examination of 148 men last week, and will examine 150 more this week. From this number it is believed that 73 men will be found that will pass into the service and thus meet our present requirements. The board expects by next week to be able to give the names of those who will be turned over to the final examiners. Hustontown M. E.
