for the 22nd, but postponed to

John Stiver.of Bedford, nephew
of the Editor, has enlisted in the
National Guards and will leave
on the 15th of July for a training
camp in Tennessee.

The Mount Zion Sunday school
on Timber Ridge will hold a pic

Four hundred goats are milked
twice a day on one California
dairy farm. Hundreds of Pacif
ic Coast families keep one or
more goats for their milk which
sells for twenty-five cents a quart
A good milker gives five quarts
of milk daily.
Willis Daniels, of McConnells
burg; Frances Norris, of Bethel
township; James Stahle, of Union
township, and Esther Welch, of
Dublin township enrolled in the
McConnellsburg Summer Normal
this week, making the total en
rollment fifty-one.
When the Water Company
flushed the pipes last week a
very dangerous hole was made in
the ground by the rush of water
at the fire plug on the M. E
Parsonage corner and two ladies
received painful injury by falling
into the hole at night
Mr. Lewis Shaw of Taylor
township, accompanied by his
son John, were in McConnells
burg on Monday. The elder Mr.
Shaw is sorely afilic ted with some
thing that renders it very difficult
for him to walk and we appreci
ate the effort necessary to reach
our office to make us a pleasant
call.
The local Committee on Public
Safety have received and sold to
Fulton County farmers sixty
bushels of buckwheat which will
swell the acreage planted to
that cereal by about sixty acres.
Inquiries are still coming in for
more. The seed laid down in
McConnellsburg is about $2.75 a
bushel.
M. H. Romig, who has. been
engineer for the Reichtly Bros.,
for twenty-two years, came over
from his home at Wells Tannery
on Thursday of last week and,
among other things, took back
with him a subscription receipt
good until well into 1918. Col.
Moseby and Fred Reichtly ac
companied him.

Teachers' Normal Schools in the

burg, July 12th;
Any applicant from any one of
the three Normal Schools may
take the examination at either
of the other Normal Schools in
stead of the one he is attending
if he prefer, ,but no applicant
will be permitted to take more
than one of the above examina
tions.

Last Friday, Miss Minnie Mc
Govern gave a five o'clock tea to
about thirty-five ladies. After
tea the guests were shown a
table on which were twenty-four
varieties of common garden and
farm seeds each in a separate
dish and they were asked to
name the Beeds. Not one pres
ent named all unaided. If you
think it easy, mix turnip, radish
cabbage, cauliflower, clover, etc.,
and then attempt to separate
them.
Last Saturday, ex-Sheriff J. J.
Harris fed a bunch of tighteen
motorcyclists at his new hotel
but he didn't feed the motorcy
cles that's where the laugh
comes in on the old-style horse.

E. church was crowded to the
walls during children's service.
A splendid program was render
ed and the little people excelled
former performances.
