Harvey Strait, of Licking
Creek township, was on a painful
errand to town Monday at the
dentists.
There are 6,000,000 less breed
ing cattle in the United States
to-day than there were fifteen
years ago.

and English flags, as the supply
in this country seems to be limit
ed. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Smith,
accompanied by Mr. and Mrs.
Clark, all of Chambersburg, call
ed on Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Sey
lar a few hours Sunday.
Last week, destructive forest
fires were reported from many
counties in the State. Heavy
damage occurred in the South
mountains in the Cumberland
Valley.

pays the highest market price

two sons Clair and Gerald, of

school four terms and missed

Lewis Harris and family, re
turned to McConnellsburg last
Saturday . after having spent a
year or more in Pana, 111. Mr.
Harris will engage with M r.
Smith in conducting a normal
school in McConnellsburg this
summer.
For many years, ex-Postmaster
S. B. Woollett has raised in his
garden all the pole Lima beans
the family could eat in a year,
and always has a nice quantity
to sell. This year he again put
up new supports, which will last
another five-year period.
Last Sunday a party of McCon
nellsburg men motored to Har
risburg and accidentally (?) en
countered Barnum and Bailey's
Biggest Show on Earth which
they "took in." The party con
sisted of Orlan Mock, Herbert
McKibbin, Max Sheets, Paul
Shimer, and John Taylor.
A farmer in Delaware applied
for free seed wheat and when
one of the committee who was
taking the farm census looked
into the granary he found sever
al hundred bushels o f wheat
which the farmer acknowledged
he was holding in the hope of
receiving $4. 00 a bushel. An ex
ample may be made of this man
by the Agricultural Department.

been completed and the proprie
tor James J. Harris, announces

contains twenty-two bedrooms

who drive horses and wish to
stop at a hotel while in town.

where horses and vehicles may
