According to growers, th tobacco

Rolls Of Steel Mill Kill Man.

caused by a fire of unknown origin,

Limestone Workers Get Increase.
Johnstown. A wage Increase of tea
per cent, has been granted employes
of various limestone quarries In this
district, according to an announce
ment just made. About 1500 work
ers are affected, Including those of the
United States Steel Corporation. Un
der the new schedule laborers will re
ceive $2.50 a day. carpenters, $2.55,
and mechanics, $3.75. t
Coatesville Trolley Approved.
Harrtsburg. Tho Public Service
Commission has approved the appli
cation for charter papers for the
Coatesville Trolley Company, which
will run a line In the city of Coates
ville and In East Fallowfield and Val
ley Townships. The applicants are
H. I. Schotter, J. V. Tennegar. C. F.
Humpton, H. O. Rambo and W. J. El
liott. Explosion Injures Two Miners.

Two Men Killed When Roof Falls.
Wllkes-Barre. Georpe Richards,
aged forty-eight, and Bernard Ewil,
aged thlrty-flvo, miners, were caught
under a fall of rock and coal In the
Woodward mine of the D. L. & W.
Company, at Edwardsvllle, and both
were killed. The men were In their
chamber when the roof gave way.

Mahanoy City. Referee Houck, of
the Worklngmen's Compensnt'on
Board, has awarded Mrs. William
tMnthner, of Frackvllle, $3,327 for the
death of her husband, who was killed
on the P. & R. Railway lines August
11 last.
Christmas Saving Of $110,000.
Chambersburg. - Three Christmas
laving! clubs in banks and trust com
panies of town paid out about $110,000
