The farmers of Franklin coun

recently, in connection with their
annual Harvest Home Picnic.
Some fine cattle were shown, and
much interest wa3 awakened in
stock raising. Chambersburg
people offered prizes which were
eagerly competed for. Again we
ask, Why not have the Sloan's
woods picnic featured in this
manner?
"Fussy," the Misses Dickson's

Saturday the faithful old compan

Killed Fish.
What is said to have been
"furnace water" killed thousands
of fish in the Raystown Branch
last week. A fish warden inves
tigated and found that people
living along the stream in and
near Everett collected great
strings of the stupefied fiish, one
string having ICO on it Practi
cally all the little fish were killed
as well as the large ones. No
wonder our fishermen return
from that stream with empty
creels. But one under-size fish
caught by hook and line would
cost a fisherman $10.
Do You
Maintain a polluted well and
then complain about the under
taker's bill?
Think screening is too-, expen
sive and then blame your mala
ria on the climate?
Insist on sanitary cigar facto
ries and then use a public cigar
cutter?
Carry a fine handkerchief and
then forget to cover your mouth
when you cough?
New Game Preserve.
There are sixteen game pre
serves in the state, each of suf
ficient size to harbor game of all
kinds where it may breed and
scatter out over other grounds,
but it must not be disturbed at
any time inside the boundaries of
the preserves. A new preserve
is about to be established in Pot
ter county. Size, 3,000 acres.
