Albert and Pwoss King, Mr. and
Mrs. W. H. Heefner, and Jesse
Heefner and Edwin Brant, of
Taylor township all in Albert's
Ford touring car, made a trip to
McConnellsburg last Friday.
They are all heavy-weights, ex
cept the ladies and they did not
have to walk up the hills "neith
er." John W. Fields, a former Mc
Connellsburg boy, and now edi
tor of the Oklahoma Farm Jour
nal, has been devotingmuch space
to the discussion of one-man farm
tractors. Last week he told of
the sale in one day of 40 of these
little farm engines. He says
they do more, and costs less,
than four horses.
During the past few years,
when the reservoir in Eedford be
came low, the supply was kept
up by pumping raw water from
the Juniata river into it, which
of course, was served up to the
residents of that town for drink
ing purposes. The citizens pro
tested, but that did not change
conditions. Now, Dr. Dixon has
taken the matter in hand, and
issued a decree restraining the
managers from furnishing river
water unless it is passed through
an authorized filtering plant.
During the summer of 1872,
Mr. John Lake who now owns
and lives on the Shaffer farm on
the Lincoln Highway three miles
west of McConnellsburg, worked
for the late Joseph Palmer in
Belfast township. While out in
the field one day, during that
Bummer John inscribed his initials
on a land tortoise. A few days
ago, John's brother William, who
now owns and lives on the farm,
picked up the same tortoise in one
of the fields on the same farm,
and the letters were still very
legible, although carried forty
three years. ,

THE INDUCEMENT
WE OFFER
We do not give something for nothing. No merchant can do
that and continue in business.
We do not sell goods below cost. You would not do that your
