Is your husband cross? An
Irritable, fault finding disposition

Your Money Back if You are uot Satis
fied With the Medicine We
Recommend.
We are so positive that our
remedy will permanently relieve
constipation, no matter howchron
ic it may be, that we offer to
furnish the medicine at our ex
pense should it fail to produce
satisfactory results.
It is worse than useless to at
tempt to cure constipation with
cathartic drugs. Laxatives or
cathartics do much harm. They
cause a reaction, irritate, and
weaken the bowels and tend to
make constipation more chronic.
Besides, their use becomes a
habit that is dangerous.
Constipation is caused by a
weakness of the nerves and mus
cles of the large intestines or de
scending colon. To expect per
manent relief you must therefore
tone up and strengthen these or
gans and restore them to health
ier activity.
We want you to try Rexall Or
derlies on our recommendation
They are exceedingly pleasant to
take, being eaten like candy, and
are ideal for children, delicate
persons, and old folks, as well as
for the robust. They act direct
ly on the nerves and muscles of
the bowels. They apparently
have a neutral action on other as
sociate organs or glands. They
do not pure, cause excessive
looseness, nor create and incon
venience whatever. They may
be taken at any time, day or
night. Tbey will positively re
lieve chronic or habitual constipa
tion, it not of surgical variety,
and the myriads of associate or
dependent chronic ailments,
taken with regularity for a rea
sonable lenztb of time. 12 tab
lets, 10 cents; 3G tablets, 25 cents
80 tablets, DO cents. Sold in Mc
Connellsburg only at our store

Is The Church Making Good?
By Kev. Charles Stl.lo.
Whenever 1 hear a man declare,
with emphasis, that thoChurh
is a failure; that it U a waning
power; that it is an effete institu
tion which will soon be supcrsed
ed by another organization, I am
reminded of the anvil that wore
out many a hammer. TheChurch
is the anvil and tho "knocker"
well, he is another hammer.
We will admit, at once, that the
Church needs to be criticised
severely criticised, sometimes.
But there are certain facts of
which we must not lose sight.
When it is said, for example, that
the "Church having failed, out
side agencies have arisen and to
day they are taking the place of
the Church," it should not be for
gotten that the religious institu
tions which are supposed to rival
the Church are all of them sup
ported bv the Church. The
Young Men's Christian Associa
tion, for example, is the Church
at work among men. The rescue
mission, or the Salvation Army,
is the Church specializing upon
certain classes of people. What
ever one may think ot the value
of these agencies and ot their
effectiveness, they are not really
rivals of the Chu-ch in the sense
that they have been organized be
cause the Church has failed to
make good. Not every Church
can be run as the Salvation Army
is being conducted, for instance.
In ministering to the spiritual
needs of the world, the Church
has simply learned to adapt itself
to various constituencies. And
the workingman, who, for social
reasons which are perfectly legiti
mate, does not care to go to the
rich man's Church for fear of be
ing patronized and I don't blame
him much for this greatly pre
fors a church made up of his own
class, where he can hold his own
with the rest of the people. There
is such a thing as "class democ
racy," and the church, in its
dealings with men, has learned to
recognize this very human fact.
We may theorize about it as we
please and wish that conditions
were otherwise, but we must
take people as we find them.
When it is asserted that the
churches are not doing anything
in the work of caring for the un
fortunate in our great cities who
are outside of the Church, I re
call a very extensive study which
was recently made among the
social workers in the United
States. This study revealed the
fact that while the church mem
bership in this country is only
about one third of the entire pop
ulation, it furnishes 75 per cent,
of the social workers.
