Business men should remem
ber that a local newspaper is like
a mirror, reflecting the business
interests of the community in the
local advertisement it contains.
If tnere are only a few advertise
ments, or only a few lines of trade,
it gives the appearance that there
are only a few business houses,
but if every business man1 carries
an up-to-date advertisement, even
though it may net be large, it
impresses the reader that the
town is a hustling, thriving place.

Look For the Caterpillars.
An exchange urges its leaders
who may have fruit or ornamen
tal trees to be on the lookout at
this time of the year for the tent
caterpillar as it is now beginning
its destructive work. Trees
should be examined every few
days and the ravagers destroyed
either by cutting off the small
twigs on which they have started
and throwing them into a fire or
by burning them with a torch.
If the fight is begun as soon as
they makes their appearance and
s vigilantly kept up for a short
time, they can be conquered, but
if left to get much headway they
will entirely cover the trees on
which they have appeared. The
best time to attack them is in the
evening when the caterpillars are
all in their webs of tents.
