one year ago caught a grey fox in
a trap, keeping the animal until
the early summer of 1910, when
he left his foxship run at large.

County Must Pay.
Judge Frank Trexler of Lehigh
County filed an opinion ot State
wide interest on Monday, decid
ing the question of payment by a
county for the burial of a soldier
who dies in another county.
The case arose from the death
of Lieutenant Robert Ham mer sly
of Altoona, who died at tho Sol
diers' Home in Hampton, Va
Judge Trexler upheld thecoun
ty commissioners in their refu
sal to pay the bill, deciding that
only those soldiers who die with
in the county are to be buried at
the county's expense.

Trespassing on Pennsylvania
Railroad System's property in
violation of the law has caused
the deaths of 7,990 people ap
proximately two a day since
January 1st, 1900. In the same
time 7838 people havebeen injur
ed as a result of trespassing.
These facts are brought out in
the records up to January 1,
1911.
Did Hair Ribbon Carry Fever.
The necessity of great care to
prevent the dissemination ol con
tagious diseases n demonstrated
by the experience of a family
living beyond the corporate Imits
of Waynesboro.
Children from a home in which
there had been scarlet fever went
coasting upon Frick hill One of
them lost a hair ribbon.
Children of another family,
coasting there, found the ribbon
and, not knowing its ownership,
carried it home. Later they dis
covered to whom it belonged and
returned it, but, about the same
time, scarlet fever developed in
the house, and it is the belief of
the family that the scarlet fever
germs were carried into its home
by the hair ribbon.

The extent of the cigar in
dustry in York county is shown
by the fact that during the year
1910 the output exceeded 350,000,
000 cigais, an amount exceeding
that of 1909 by five million. There
are 1400 cigar factories in York
county, like Franklin, is attached
to the Ninth Internal Revenue
district The quality of the
cigars manufactured in the Ninth
district in 1910 was better than
that of previous years.
