William Hartley. Sr., died at
his home in Bedford on Thurs
day morning of last week. He
was born at Mt. Dallas, July 24,
1831 and was one of Bedford
county's most widely known citi
zens. Surviving are two chil
dren, Mrs. John M. Reynolds, of
Bedford, and Mrs. C. L. Bretz, of
Cumberland, Md.

2, 3 and 4, the joint meeting of the
Pennsylvania Live Stock Breed
era' Association and the Pennsyl
vania Dairy Union will be held,
Sixty-two cash prizes are offered

the Pennsylvania Horticultural
Association has been secured,
The Pennsylvania Agricultural
College will make a display and
demonstration. There will be a
big butter, cheese and milk show.
A notable show of horses, both
stallions and geldings, will be
beld. McLaughlin Bros. Colum
bus. Ohio, will furnish a select
lot of Percheron and French
Coach stallions, and Belgians,
Clydesdales, Shires, Suffolks
Arabians and Morgans will be
hhown. Cattle of leading beef
and dairy breeds will be on hand,
Cattle, sheep and swine will be
used in demonstrations on foot
and on tbe block, conducted by
experts. Everything is free to

home from North Point last Sat
urday evening he ran into a heavy
shower, and had no umbrella

were callers at S. C. Gracey's
last Sunday.
Mrs. Shaver and children, of

An old-fashiened 18-inch snow
fell last week, and now we have
fine sledding.
