AN OLD BOOK.
David Kncpper Has in His Possession
Grandfather Barron's Bible, Print
ed in 1789.
When tho territory comprising
McConnollsburg and vicinity was
yet a part of Bedford county, the
farm now owned by Judge Peter
Morton belonged to John Barron,
father of Rev. Dr. Barron, late of
Uolhdaysburg, and of James Bar
ron, whoso letters in the News a
few years ago were read with so
much interest.
Fifty-six years ago, the farm
passed from the ownership of the
Barrons to that of Solomon Knep
per, father of David and Aaron
Knepper, of Taylor township, and
the Kneppars lived there uutil
IW)5, when they sold it to John
Mosser, grandfather of our towns
man, Dr. J. W. Mosser.
When the Kneppers moved to
the farm, they found on the kitch
en loft, a bible that had been read
and owned by Grandfather Bar
ron, and the book is now in the
possession of David Knepper, and
prized highly on account of its
historical associations. The kitch
en lott was plastered and ceiled,
aud was warm and comfortable
in the winter time, and Grandfa
ther used it as his reading room,
and delighted to spend his leisure
hours in studying the Good Book
and meditating on its teachings.

I don't think God loves this
church because none of you ever
