There is a disposition to sit

will drop into that hajbit if you do
not help them to stir around and
work for their living. That is
why a scratching shed . is good,
and why plenty of litter keeps
the fowls healthy.

The County Institute.
The Teachers' County Insti
tute, which -was in progress when
we we a to press last week, closed
Friday noon, after a series of
very successful meetings. Tho
weather during the entire week
was perfect, and the attendance
of teachers and the general pub
lie was up to high-water mark all
week. The evening lecture course
drew large audiences, and on
Thursday night, the large audita
rium of the Public School Build
ingwas not nearly sufficient to
accommodate the number who
applied for admission.' Tickets,
the regular price of which was
fifty cents, brought anywhere
from 75 cents to two dollars so
anxious was the public to hear
the Concert Company.
The County institute grows in
popularity with each succeeding
year; and, of course, each costs
more than its predecessor. In
order to provide against the in
creased cost of lectures and en
tertainers, the teacheis enroll
ment fee has been placed at two
dollars for next year.

Like s Letter From Home.
In sending a dollar to renew
his subscription to the News for
another vear, J. W. Bowman, of
Illinois, better known, perhaps,
to his Fulton county friends as
Wesley Bowman, says that the
Nfws is like a letter from home,
and its weekly visit in the family
every week is hailed with delight.
What is true in Mr. Bowman's
family is true in thousands of
other homes. In puzling your
brain what to give this year as a
Christmas present, you cannot
invest a dollar that will yield so
much pleasure to the one receiv
log the gift a gift that will yield
pleasure during a whole year as
to have the News sent to a son
or a daughter, a brother or a sis
ter, or to some other relative or
friend. It will be like sending
them a letter from home every
week.
