If Your Name l fchvards, Ynu Arc in
the Line of an Illustrious Ancestor,
James M. Edwards, of O.sceola

"1 herewith enclose a little
sketch taken from the Juno num
ber of "The Poultry Item," of
Sellersville, Pa., concerning the
Edwards' connection of which
Fulion county has a good repres
entation, and will ask that you
kindly insert it in your nsxi issue
as nearly all the Elwardsos do,

weight in gold.
"If you are breeding from

have a rock like faith that the
stock j-ou mature next fall
will be first clnss. There will
be culls, but the rule will be
high class sto.'.k. But if you

"Like will produce like " Wil
hum Pitt was one of the grc at
est statesmen of his time. Ho
was Prime Minister of Eng
land. He had a son whom he
named after himself, William
Pitt, the younger, becinie
Prime Minister of Eigland
when he was only twenty
four vears old. Why was
this young man so highly en
dowed 'i Because his father
was highly endowed. States
men produce statesmen.
Great preachers produce
great preachers. Charles II.
Spurgeon preached for thir
ty years to a weekly audience
of about six thousand people
in the great .Metropolitan Ta
bernacle in London. When
he died, his soli succeeded
him. General Grant, in the
person of his own sou, is still
one of the foremost military
men in the United Slates.
Endless instances might be
cited giving us confidence in
this supreme law of heredity.
It will just as certainly worK
in birds as in horse?, cattle,
and men.
"Sometimes the great man
is the exception in tho family.
There was only one Benjamiu
Franklin among seventeen
brothers and sisters. But
look at Lyman Beecher's
sons and daughters! Look
up the descendants of Jona
than Edwards if you want to
realize the value of 'line breed
ing,' 300 college graduates,
14 presidents of colleges, 100
professors of colleges, 100
lawyers, 30 Judges, liu phy
sician, 10) preachers, theo
logical professors, etc. These
are matters of record and
scientific investigation."
