Record. FRANKLIN MILLS. Edward Golden Seriously Injured by an Explosion in a Limestone Quarry Last Saturday. Edward Golden and his broth er Ellsworth, of Bethel township, were quarrying limestone at tho former's h me last Saturday. Tliev drilled a hole, loaded it, lighted the fuse, "lighted out" themselves to a place of safety, and waited for the explosion. After waiting a reasonable length of time, they went cautiously up to the place and found that when they had gone out of the quarry, the fuse had goue out, too. Doing what quarrymen usually do un der like circumstances, they pro ceeded to remove the tamping, and as they were doing so, the fuse that seemed so dead, began to sizz and spit, warning the boys that there would be somethin' doin' in about a minute. They took the hint and left Ellsworth going clear out of theq.iarry, but Edward, who was more venture some, did not go so far. In a mo ment there was a puff of smoke and dust, a loud roar, and the stones played around like a show er of big hailstones. One of these stones struck Edward violently in the left side, pretty nearly put ting him out of business. Dr. Remsburg was called and found one rib broken and one lung in jured. At present he is not able to he in bed, but has to spei;d his nights in a chair. Mrs. Bundy Crist and Miss Jessie E. Lewis spent last Thurs day very pleasantly with Mrs. J. P.
