Dr. Martin, Principal of the C.
N. State Normal school at Ship
peusburg, preached in the Pres
byterian church in this place last

The surprise party on Mrs.
Roland Sharp last Monday, the
5th, was well attended. All that
were there, reported a good time,
and wished for more such occa
sions. Our schools is progressing well
in this township.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Swope
of Homestead, Pa., are visiting
his mother and other relatives
and friends in this vicinity.
Sampson Mellott has the wall
partly bnilt under bis barn.
Ulysses Deshong will soon have
his house completed by Joseph
Sipe and Company.
Geo. Mellott and Ray Fohner
are in this county on business.

1st Sorgeant Samuel R. Du
ganne has just returned from a
trip to Philadelphia, with the Na
tional Guard. The parade, in
Philadelphia was grand and every
one had a tine time. The 14th
took BOO men, Sergeant Dupanne
is the oldest enlisted man in the
Guard, which is an honor to be
proud of. He has been in for 22
years, and has 2i medals. On the
way home, to Pittsburg he stop
ped at Altoona. Pa.
The 14th Regiment Team won
the Home Trophy for two succes
sive years and have another year
yet to win it, and it belongs to
the company. They won second
place in the Natonial Shoot, at
Port Clinton, Ohio.
