Maky Ellen Palmer Mary Ellen, wife of Ira Palmer, died at her home at Big Cove Tannery, last Sunday, of puer pral convulsions, at the age of 18 years, 5 months and 19 days. Miss Myrtle Kelso, who has had her home for several yars in the family of Grant Baker, near Knobsville, died yesterday moruing at the home of L'Hher Fix, west of town, where she was staying temporarily. About five weeks ngo, she had some dental work done, and a few davs later, was attacked with something like blood poisoning, and gradually grew worse until d ath came. Last Friday a surprise party was held at the the home of Christopher Deshong in honor of his wife's 57th birthday. A fine dinner was served, and all pres ent had a very enjoyable time. As a mark of affection for the head of the household, the family of William Deshong, of Licking Creek township, celebrated his birthday anniversary last Satur day in such a pleasant way as to make him lose sight of any re gret he may have had that it was the mr.rking of one milestone nearer the end of life's journey. It was well planned and William was kept in the dark as to what was going on until he came home from making ties at dinner time, and found the company assem bled. Those present were Ulys ses Deshong, wife and children; Richard Deshong, wife and chil dren; Sheridan Destiong, wife and daughters; Lewis Mellott, wife and children; George Sipe, wife and grand daughter; Linnie Deshong, Mary Mellott, Jessie Hess, Lois Staves, Uriah Kline, Irene Mellott, Morgan Fisher, Ralph, Maynard and Eme.y Deshong, and Morgan Deshong. All enjoyed it well, and hope to meet at another one soon. While Mrs. John Caliraor was driving home from Waynesboro, Saturday evening, a tree fell and struck the horse, killing it in stantly.
