A game played by any number of persons, one of whom leaves the room while the others agree on some historical character he is to represent. He is then called back and each player asks hi in a question, or makes a r emark to him, as if be were the person agreed upon. From these ques tions he must try to puess what character he is supposed to rep resent, md if he succeeds, the person whose question gave him the clew must represeut the next character. The questions are usually put so as to puzzle the guessers as much as possible. For instance, if Washingt n be the character agreed upon, one player may ask. A Cat Story. Last Wednesduy i .In as Messrs S. J. Deshong and James II. Mellott went to HurrUonvllle to cut Ice on th lonir pond near Thomas Hollcns liead's. The pond was fro.en over, a distance of nearly 300 yards We lii-ljan to cut ice about the middle o the pond cut all da? and returned the next morning. Durlnjj the night there hud fallen about six inches of snow and we are certain that no one had been there before we arrived. When we reached the pond, 8. J, Deshong took the scoop to shovel away the snow and James Mellott took the poll ax, nndwalUet in to break the thin ice that hud fro.en over where we had cut the day before. S. J. Deshong broke the ice with the scoop, und to his sur prise, out came a tlirr-j-colored cat, from under the Ice. We are both cer tain that there was no hole in the ice for lo0 yards either way from where tho cat came out. If tl.ero Is such a thing as a cat having nine lives, this must be one, for when it jumped out it sneezed and i-hook itself, and walk ed across the pond and sat on the bank for about half an hour Mr. Mellott remarked that he would take the poll ax and knock it on the head, but S. J. Deshong insisted that since the cat had done that well, it had better live. We are wait ng for an early reply from Tncle John Hann. 1 amks II. MKi.uvrr, S. J.
