A CAUTION TO CIQAR PEDDLERS.
The Collector of internal Revenue Gives
a Note o( Warning.
It haviug been brought to the
notice of Hon. H. L. Hershey, Col
lector of Iuternal Revenue, that a
custom has giown up of parties
selling cigars in small quantities
at public: sales on various farms
throughout thoir neighborhood,
ho desires to warn all such that
they are violating the law, and
that the practice must stop at
ouce. or tlie penalties provided
by the statutes will be imposed.
A person thus traveling about
from place to place selling cigars
and tobacco is not to be regarded
as a dealer but as a peddler. As
a peddler ho must give bond and
otherwise comply with the law
and regulations, and can only sell
in full original packages as they
come irom tlie maauiacturer.
Eveu as a regular registered ped
dler he cannot sell less than a box
at a time.
Since putting the foregoing
into type, Mr. Hershey has mod
ified his recent ruling against the
selling of cigars at retail at pub
lic sales, so that the business can
be carried on practically as it was
before. He now holds that the
injunction is laid only against
those who go from sale to sale
carrying their stock with them
and selling or offering for sale at
various places. Parties who es
tablish a booth at a salo and sell
from that booth are considered as
dealers and will not be molested.
With the changes of laws and
rulings that come thick and fast
it keeps the average citizen busy
to know "where he is at."
TO CUJ.E A COLO IN ONE DAY

COUNTY MUST BEAK THE COST.
Where Persons Bitten by Mad Dogs are
Too Poor to Pay for Treatment.
The cases of hydrophobia or
rabies that have been reported in
different parts of the State re
cently have prompted Commis
sioner of Health, Samuel G. Dixon
to call attention to au act passed
by the last legislature and ap
proved by Governor Peunypack-
er, March ol, IDOo, as the act
seems to be apparently little
known. It provides for furnish
ing treatment to needy persons
who have been bitten by mad dogs
and reads as follows :
"That in each and evory county
of this Commonwealth it shall be
the duty of the proper officers of
the several poor districts, in such
counties, to provide all needy per
sons, who may be bitten by dogs
suriering from hydrophobia o
rabies, with the proper medical
attention to prevent development
of the distase in the person or
persons so bitten, which medical
attention may include the treat
ment known as the Pasteur treat
ment."

You Are Not Busy
The holiday rush is over and you now have
time to complete your wardrobe, to finish
that quilt you had laid aside, or to do the
many little things you were obliged to neglect
on account of having so much to do.
Mow about that best dress? A wholesaler
came to us and offered us the same quality of
Mohair that we have been selling at 60c at a
big reduction. It was a good chance for us
to give you that very popular fabric at a low
er price than vou have ever bought it.
Just think of it! 45c per yard is our price on a
regular 60c article. The patterns are stylish and at
tractive. Who ever heard of St. Almo cloth, just the
thing for waists selling at 1 5c per yard. We have it
in cream white and it is considered cheap at 25c,
but this is another of our fortunate purchases and you
are getting the benefit of it.
Samples of either Mohair or St. Almo cloth gladly
furnished by mail upon request.
