' Editor News: Permit me to make a little further explanation in your paper relative to Wm. Kecfor's letter of September (Itn. First, I wish to say that the state ment made in the previous issue of the News by a policy holder in the Fultou Corn, ty Mutual Fire Insurance Company, in explana tion of Wm. Keefer's loss, is ab solutely correct, excepting that we have not yet passed the "three hundred thousand-dollar mark, but we are getting there, never theless. (I did not write that ar ticle, therefore I am not account able for the mistake.) Now, as to Mr. Keefer's letter, he seems hurt over his loss, which is natural, and we deeply sympa thize with him, and especially my self, who solicited his name on our subscription to raise the amount required by law to secure a charter and to do insurance business. Mr.,Keefer said in his letter. "I was persuaded to leave the Friends Cove Company, and to go into the Fultou County Mu tual Insurance Company." Mr. Keefer called me by 'phone tohis home, Feb. 21, 1905, to sec his family who were sick. I arrived about miduight, and remained until the morning of the 22ud, when I asked him to help us raise the amount necessary to secure the charter. He said he would, as his policy had expired in the Friends Cove, and he would not renew again, and he signed for $1000. To confirm this state ment, and that 1 did not persuade him to leave any company, I will quote you verbatim, a card from James L. Lake, agent for the Friends Cove Company in this county, viz: Sept. 18, 11)0."). Dear Sir: Mr. Keefer's insurance run out Sept. 21, 1003. I was tliero be fore it was out and have been there since. Yours Ja.mks L. Lakk. According to this, his policy had expired cue and one-lialf years before I was there. He further said that I told him "his protection would begiu as soon as the charter was granted." If Mr. Keefer undersUud me thus, lam sorry, for I made no one such a promise. All charter members were to have, aud have had, free policies when they till ed or caused to b filled an appli cation for their- policy, and all policies issued prior to June 1st, took eil'ect on that date. Mr. Keefer did not, nor hus not made any application for his policy. We are like Mr. Keefer, "We be lieve in insurance" but we dou't believe in letting our insurance expire one and one-half years be fore renewing. Ihis should be a warning to everyone to look after his insurance aud see that his property .s protected. The Fulton County Mutual Fire Insurance Company opened its doors June 1st, and has well up into three hundred thousand dol lars of insurance in force which' means a large number of policy holders and have not had one cent of loss, which should bring praise from every poiicy holder, as this has -been a dangerous sea son for tires. It is the desire of this company to do an honest and legitimate business, and all we desire is for the public to give us a trial. Yours truly J. S. SWAKTZWELDKU, M. 1). Secretary, R C. M. F. I. Co.
