Society Forming in Chambergburg to Fight
New Rules. Have Counsel Engaged.
Since the article on the subject
of vaccination of the pu blic schools
as found on the first page of the
"News" was put in type, we learn
that the measure is meeting with
much opposition. The following
from yesterday's Chambersburg
Public Opinion shows something
of the attitude the citizens of our
neighboring town are taking.
The Opinion says :
"There is in course of forma
tion in Chambersburg an anti-
vaccination society, the purpose
or which will be to oppose the
pronunciemento of the state
health department calling for the
vaccination of all school children,
according to the law of 1905, as
set forth in the recent circular
letter of the State Health Com
missionei Dixon and seconded by
a vote of the public school teach
ers of Chambersburg. It is alto
gether likely that there will be a
test case in the local courts and
that some interesting develop
ments will.
"Dr. Jonn L Weaver, the well
known neurologist, has taken the
initiative in the society and al
ready has' secured the names of
a number of heads of families
who have signified their inten
tions of becoming members. Dr.
Weaver will continue his mission
ary work and later in the week
there will be a public meeting at
which the organization of the auti-
vaccinationists will be brought
about.
"In the meantime Dr. Weaver
has employed private counsel to
instruct on the law in the case.
The constitutionality of the law
is the point in question.
"The order for vaccination has
been pretty generally discussed
over town and there is no doubt
but that there fs a decided senti
ment against it in many quarters,
A number of parents have em
phatically declared that their
children shall not be vaccinated,
no matter if they be compelled to
remain away from school because
of the fact. One man said that,
should his child be kept away
from school, he would prosecute
the school board for depriving the
little one of educational advantag
es secured to it under the consti
tution. "The new law does not only ap
ply to public schools, as many
people believe, but to "Sabbath
Schools, select, private and paro
chial schools." It means that
Sunday school superintendents
or teachers who allow unvaccin
ated children to attend, are amen
able to the law.
"Very interesting develop
ments are expected in Chambersburg."

Ut of Both Hands.
We should form the habit of using
euch of our hands in turn in our one
handed activities. In a few months
we mi;: lit attain to fair ambidexteri
ty, in a few years to the full "use of
each hand. For this object the best
exercise is writing with the neglect
ed hand. If a man learned to write
well with either hund uhnost all the
other unimauual graces would be
added unto him. There are many
other unimanual activities in which,
by changing the hand employed in
them, we might cultivate ambidex
terity, as in carrying a stick or um
brella, in fencing with a foil, in
counting money, in changing our
watch pocket from side to side, in
changing the parting of our hair, in
the use of a spoon in taking soup, in
domestic curpeatry and in many oth
er usual activities. Sir James Saw-
