The story of the convention of school directors called together Tuesday to elect a county super intendenb to serve duriug the next three years is a short one CHARLES K. BARTON. At one o'clock they assembled in the Court House aud effected an organization by making John Comerer, ot McConnellsburg, president, and Van Kelly of Dub lin, and Amos N. Duvall of Brush Creek, secretaries. Dr. Sappington of Ayr, placed the name of Prof. Barton before the convention, mid J. H. II. Lewis of Bethel, seconded the nomina tion both gentlemen making neat little speeches. There being no other names presented, a bal 'lot was takeu which was unani mous in favor of the present in cumbent and a compliment to be appreciated by any one. The salary was fixed at 12O0 a year. There were lifty seven of the seventy-two directors in the coun ty, present. . Abner Hart, Dead. Just as we go to press, we learn of the death of Abner Hart at his home at Geary, Oklahoma, on last Saturday morning. Mr. Hart was a brother of Enoch Hart (deceased), and Mrs. Ahitnaaz Runyau, and was born at Needmore on the 7th of Janu ary, l-37. He had spent most of his lite since early manhood in the West. Fields has bad a very sick horse from distemper, but with good care it is getting better. C. L. Henry is having his new house plasterod. Charles Fields and C. Orth are the workmen. John Henry has had the house plastered owned by Calvin Car mack and will move into it in the near future. Miss Xora Heeter is home for a brief time from Huntingdon, where she has been employed. William Sipes was the guest of II. T. Ileeter on Saturday and Sunday. Walter Brown was at his home on Sunday. Mrs. Jennie Miller was the guest of Alfred Brown's last Sat urday night. J. W. Mowers and wife culled one evening last week on Clark Newman's. Mrs. Mertie Miller and son Glen spent Saturday night with Mrs. Sue Mowers'. When just a little distance above Hoover's Mill, he found it lying in the road whore it had dropped from his pocket. The finding was 1 ho lurky part.
