Mrs. Catharine Tice, of Wells Valley, 13 visiting friends in Ohio. Mrs. Catharine Duvall, who has been visiting her daughter, Mrs. John Galbreath, of South Fork, for a couple of months, ar rived home oq Saturday, accoin panied by her daughter. Mrs. Duvall looks hale and hearty. Loy McClain and Cleve and Wil liam Crider are now employed at Woodvale mines. It is reported that some petty thieving is going on in and near New Grenada. Someone relieved Geo. Black of eleven chickens in one night; and husked 4 shocks of John Thomas's corn. Wouldn't have been so bad had it been only husked; but the party who did the husking took all for his share. Many other chickens are disap pearing in the uight time. It will not cease until some one gets fil led with shot. Henry E, Rowe, of Knobsville, moved to his home in Wells near the Camp Ground, last week. If Tod lost a good Democrat, Wells f jund one. Mrs. N. G. Cunningham is on the sick list and was almost over come on Friday by weakness of the heart. She is some better at tins writing. Dr. Root. M. Hunter drove ov er to our town from Saxton last Friday. Adam Long and wife and Mrs. Sollers, of Saltillo, visited Harry Siiarpe's on Wednesday. James M. Keith found a new addition to their family a new girl baby. Among the many triends sum moned here on account of tne death of of Samuel Houp, we not iced in particular a certain one, Jacob Houp, who was at one time an adopted son of Mr. and Mrs. Houp. He drifted away in his teeos married and settled m Pittsburg, Pa. He used to be a school mate of tho writer, and a better hearted mate never lived thau he; and by all appearances, he is just as good a man. We notice he is minus his left arm. H is car-receiver at 42nd st, Pittsburg. .John Ilouck, and Charlie Sev llle, teacher of No. 4, visited the Seville home in McConnellsburg last Saturday and Sunday. Quite a real estate deal took place during the past week. Al ice McClain, postmistress of New Grenada, and Richard Alloway, who owned the Geo. H. McCoy property, concluded to swop, and a dual was made, and on Satur day began moving to and fro, and will finish on Thursday. The post office will be in the McCoy property and Richard and family can rock on the porch of the Dave K. McClain homestead. , We trust both parties are well suited in the deal. Tije post-office at Hubelsville was entered through a window one night recently and pilfered. Nothing much was stolen. One ! Many. II. A. Tisdale, of Summerton, S. Starr and Pies singer moved home after thresh ing ,b55 bushels besides some timothy seed. Mr. John Hixsouand E. D. Ak- ers started last Wednesday to take in the sights at St. Louis. Mrs. Amos Uixson's brothets and their families were visiting her over night, from Broadtop. Ross Jackson attended the fu neral of his cousin, Roy, at Ever ett on last Monday. Will Mellott and son of Riddles burg, and Joseph Starr and fam ily of Snake Spring Valley, Bed ford county, spent Sunday night with Mr. Starr's brother Thom as. Miss May Sheets visited the family of Dr. Hank's at Breeze wood from Saturday until Mon day. Miss Florence Mellott visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Uriah Mellott Saturday and Sunday. Miss Ina Showalter spent Sat urday night with her parents at Gapsville. Mr. T. B. McGraw and wife formerly of Brush Creek, are call ing on friends in the Valley. Mrs. E. J. Showalter of Gaps ville, was calling at T. R. Starr's Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Roy Duvall is improving slowly as is also Bruce Barton. Watson Plessinger was circu lating among friends in the Val ley Saturday night and Sunday. Harry Barton apd family of Mench, visited his father, Mason Barton Sunday. Morgan Barton, Jr., lost a val uable horse last week by stepping on a sharp lath and snagging an artery over the heart. It bled to death in a few minutes. A Ureal Sensation.
