Harrison Locke, the veteran merchant of Selea, Sundied with friends here, and took in the l O. S. of A. sermon at Bethel. Tillie Stunkard of Enid, spent Sunday with the family of Geo. Sliafer. Isaac Bolinger aud family visit ed Scott Bolinger 's here. Cal Keith and family ol Saltillo, visited Harvey Shafer's. Rev. Shade of Sixmile Uun, preached a sermon in Bethel on Sunday for the I. O. S. of A. cf New Grenada. The members turned out in their regalia. The exercises were nice, and a very able sermon was delivered. They used the odes of their order for the occasion. The lire alarm was sounded on Saturday evening on account of Geo. Black's dwelling being on tire. The Hook & Ladder com pany, and bucket brigade com posed of men and women, soon had the fire under control and out not, however, until most of the household goods had been re moved, leaving their home in bad shape for over Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Metzler of Burnt Cabins, visited their son S. 1'. Metzler here a couple of days the past week. Mrs. Johu Siheuck of Enid, was bitten ou the hand by a cop perhead. She went to the wood shed for wood where a lot was split and ranked up for summer use, and in reaching for some, Mr. onane was niucien mere, ana snake style, made a dive for her, sinking both fangs in her linger. Dr. Campbell was hastily sum moned, and now has control of the trouble. She is improving as fast as could bo expected. At the close of iheir Sunday school yesterday, our Methodist brethren resolved themselves in to it "committee of the whole" and determined to punish to the extent of the law uli persons im posing themselves upon the ser vices nf their Sjuday school pic nic and festival on the 13th of this month, in a drunken or dis orderly manner. This, they pro pose to do without respect to lo cality, "race, color, or previous condition of (alcoholic) servitude."
