Kerlin 's sister, Mrs. Cromer of Fort Littleton last Sunday. The Saints have been holding meeting in the grove near Knobs ville for the past week. A happy crowd were invited to the homo of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Sharp, last Thursday evening to an apple paring. The invited were as follows: Wm. Guunells and wife, C. R. Spangler and wife Frank Davis, Levi Ilockensmith, Wm. Luther Grove, who had an at tack of heart trouble is improv ing. Miss Lucy Gallaher has gone to Pittsburg. Miss Lillian Fleming spent Saturday night with Miss Emily Lyle. As the last festival was a disap pointment, the Jr. O. U. A. M. will have a festival at Clear Ridge October 17. Should the weather be unfavorable to hold it at the grove, it will be held at the Hall. Mr. Redder of Franklin county was a pleasant caller at James Car mack's last Thursday even ing. Ervin Winegardner came home from Three Springs on Saturday to visit his parents. Misses Lizzie Fields and Mertie Shore were at John Black's at Three Springs last Friday. Mrs. Joseph Rank is visiting her son in-law Mr. Cella Cutchall of Selia. Mr. Samuel Buckley and Miss Annie May no of Ft. Littleton were calling on Miss Millie Huston on Sunday. One of tho most shocking deaths occurred near Maddens villa a couple of weeks ago. Mrs. John Shore was crossing 'a high foot log, and In some way or other fell off, and when found was dead. She was subject to falling fits, but it is not known whether that was the causa of her deatn. She leaves no children, but an aged husbaud and others to mourn her loss. . Scott Bolinger returned home on Thursday with his new wife and went to housekeeping in their home" in our town, which ho bought recently from" H. H. Bridenstine. The first local institute of Lick ing Creek townsLip was held at Forest Dale school house last Friday evening,' and proved to be successful in every respect. It was largely attended by both pa trons and directors, ail of whom were much delighted by the lit erary work rendered by the school. Tho topics for discussion were completely exhausted by the fourteen teachers present. ' The next institute will be held at Shanes school house on the 23d. All friends of education are invited.
