sold to a coal magnate in the
western part of the State for f,.

On Monday night John Stenger
and Thomas Humbert of Ayr
township both died at their re
spective homes, and Harrison
Clevenger at Cleartiold, Pa. A
more exteuded notice will be
given next week.

Mrs. Wishart Decker of Lick
ing Creek townshin. this season
has raised fifteen pumpkins on I
three vines. Two of the pump
kins measured 0 feet in circum
ference; one, feet a in.; one, 4
feet f in., one, 4 feet, and the oth
ers ranging from 5! to 4 feet.
This is the second crop from that
piece of ground this season.

Epworth League Convention.
The annual convention of Ep
worth Leagues of Hustontown,
Burnt Cabins, Fort Littleton,
Knobsville and McConnellsburg
M. E. churches, will be held in
this place Thursday afternoon
and evening of this week.' A
strong program has been arrang
ed and a general attendance of
workers throughout the district
is expected. The members of the
young peple's societies of sister
churches are invited as well as
ministers and tho general public.

After Constables.
According to tho act of 1899
every constable iu ' the state is
made a fish and game warden and
the department of fisheries and
the game commission have issued
orders that unless every consta
ble attends 6trictly to arresting
every violator of the game laws
he will be made to suffer for vio
lating his oath. It is said that
tho departments have spotters all
over the state. Last week in
Luzerne county, a constable was
convicted for not having arrested
persons whom he knew to be
guilty of violating the game laws.

Walters Strait.
A very quiet homo wedding
took place at the home of Mr. Roy
-Duvall, Wednesday, September
JJ0, 1903. The contracting parties
were Hosel U. Walters of Alters
ville, and Miss Nellie Strait of
Saluvia.
Promptly at 5 o'clock the pas
tor, Rev. Campbell, pronounced
the words that made them man
and wife. After congratulations
were over supper was announced
and all did justice to the good
things that had been prepared.
The young couple are bothhigh
ly esteemed young people, and
the many friends wish them suc
