After cutting a nice lot of corn, they returned to the house, where refreshments wore served. Last Sunday Oliver Sipos was at George Sipes', Miss Etta Hockensmith spent the day with Miss Frances Sipes, and Miss Tena Sipes was the guest ot Nev in Strait. A regular old-time party was given to the young folks at the home of Nevin Strait Friday evening. Mrs. Christina Heikes depart ed this life September 10, 1903, at the homo of her daughter, Mrs. S. P. Stubbs, at Mapleton Depot, Huntingdon county, aged 87 years, 10 months aud l'J days. Her maiden name was Kepner, she being the last member of that family. In 1831 she was married to Jacob Hertzler, of Juniata county, to which union were born the following children, all of whom are living: Henry of Burnt Cabins; William, of McVeytown; Samuel, Buffalo, N. Y.; Mrs. Sarah Stubbs, Mapleton Depot; A. I. Hertzler, Chalmont, Mont gomery county; Steward and Daniel, Huntingdon, Pa., and Mrs. Elizabeth Heikes, Patterson, Pa. Mr. Hertzler dying in 18(i0, she in 18(54, was married to George Heikes, of Juniata county. She was a consistent member of the Lutheran church for more than 70 years, and is survived by (5 sous, 2 daughters, 35 grand children, and 38 great-grandchildren.
