School numbers seventy-seven,

David Wolf, an old and highly
respected citizen of Taylor town
ship, died at his home near West
Dublin, Tuesday. Funeral on

expense Monday morning, and it
all came about owing to the arrival
of a young daughter.

Burut Cabins M. E. church, will

tival at Burnt Cabins, on the

durg drum corps. Every thing
iu season will be on sale, in addi
tion to the celebrated Burnt
Cabins sweet cakes. All are in
vited. A game of base ball was played
at Clear Ridge on May 30th, be
tween the CloaY Ridge team and
the Dublin Mills Athletics, which
resulted in the score of o7 to 25,
iu favor of Clear Ridge. Umpire
Harry Dawney called the game at
the eud of the seventh inuiug on
accouut of darkness. The two
teams will play on June 15th, and
iu the evening a festival will be
held for the benefit of the club.
Formal memorial services were
hold at several phces iu this coun
ty last Thursday. It was a gen
eral holiday and many persons
were assembled at the various
points. Elliott Ray, commander
of King Post, had charge of the
exorcises in McConnollsburg.and
John T. Laloy had charge of the
exercises at Autioch iu Thompson
township. Addresses were made
in this place by M. R. Shaffuer,
Esq., Dr. A. D. Dalbey.aud Revs.
McCloskey and Wolf. At antioch
addresses were made by John T.
Laloy, Hon. D. II. Patterson, John
P. Sipos, Esq., Rev. Lewis Cham
bers, Prof. S. 11. Martin, and the
editor of the Ni;vs.

Decoration is over, now comes
the Camj) Meeting which will be
hold by the Salvation Army near
Sharp's store. It will begin the

Daisy Hoover spent a few days

town. Attendance at Sunday School
at Fairview Sunday afternoon

Levi Mellott, an aged citizen of
this township, and a former Su
perintendent of Fairview Sunday
School, was buried at Fairview
Church last Wednesday after
noon. There was a small attendance
from this community at Memor
ial Day exercises.
Some of our young people are
taking music lessons. This is a
commendable thing as there is
nothing more pleasing to the re
fined ear than good music.

lives in McCounellsburg, to finish
sawing timber at this place.
A number of Ayr township
students are now attending
school at Needmore.
Henry Tritle visited this place
last Friday.
Many of our young people at
tended the Decoration exercises
at Zion last Thursday. All came
home much pleased.
Leonard Bivens lost a valuable
colt last week.
Our supervisor, John Hine
baugh, is building a fine piece of
road above this place.

The rain of the past week has
greatly deferred corn planting
and other out door work among
our farmers.
Decoration Day was not observ

Hon. S. W. Kirk passed through
the Valley last week. Mrs. Kirk,

Miss Olive Stouteagle and
brothers, of McCounellsburg, who
had beeen spending some time
with their grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. Amos Ilixson, returned
home Monday.
W. C. Hanks, of Emmaville,
visited friends in the vk-lnity of

week.
