P. P. Mann has moved his residence

Levi Keefer of Webster Mills, had
the misfortune on Monday to run the
tine of a pitchfork through jne of his
feet. He has suffered much since from
the accident.
Captain Skinner was one of a com
mittee of three who yesterday called on
President McKinley at the White House,
to formally invite him to be present
ut the State Kncampment of the G. A.
R. to be held at Gettysburg in May.
Mrs. John H. Truax of the Meadow
Grounds is the possessor of a pump
kin two feet seven Inches in length,
two feet, eleven inches in circumfer
ence, and weighing thirty pounds. Al
though it was grown In 18!8, it is in
an excellent state of preservation and
shows evidence of keeping to the end
of the nineteenth century.
Sanner Ray has moved Into his new
house near Big Cove Tannery, whorg
he and his estimable young wife are
now living "as snug as a bug in a
rug." He has moved his loom and
fixtures into his resideuce and is pre
pared to receive calls from all desir
ing weaving.
Public' Opinion has this to suy of a
former McConnellsburger: "John
Stoner, the well-known South Second
street veteran, paid his annual call at
the Opinion sanctum Monday. Major
Stoner was one of the first on our list.
He has been on the sick list this win
ter and will gladly welcome spring
weather. Despite illness and age he
is one of the active members of Hous
um Post, G. A. R."
The other day Charlie and Wcbbie,
. two little sons of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph
K. Mellott, of Belfast township, were
visiting their grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. Jonas Truax. .While at play
about the room, Webbie stumbled and
fell face foremost right into a bed of
coals In the open fire-place. His
screams brought to his rescue his
grundmother, who saved the boy from
what might have been a horrible death,
