SULLIVAF PTY FAIR The Annual Fair of the Sullivan County Agricultural Society will be held at Forksville, I*a., on Tues day, Wednesday and Thursday, SEPT. 24, 25 and 26 Among the attractions there will be KAGING, BASE-BALL ETC. The MERRY-GO-ROUND will also be there to delight both young and old. ROLLINS, THE KINC OF COMEDY JUGCLERS will be there to entertain yju every day during the fair. The Bernice Band will furnish Music'duriug the week. Many other new and up-to-date attractions will be open for the fair visitors. There will be a large and line display of Livestock, Poultry, Etc. Back Broken Lived 40 Years j Warren, Pa., Aug. 21.—That it is possible for a man to survive many years after having his back broken again has been proven in the life of George R. Owens, of this place, who lived forty years after fracturing his spine. Owens died yesterday at the age of sixty j years. While in the employ of the Wet more Lumber com pa 113' , of this place. Owen sustained fractures of both legs, several ribs and the spinal column. For months he was confined to his bed. and it was then observed that the vertebrae of his spine were gradually knitting together and resuming their nor mal condition. Surgeons in various parts of the state were interested j in his case and proclamed his par tial recovery remarkable. Come One, Come All ! BITTEN TWICE BY A COPPERHEAD Lock Haven Paper Mill Em ploye Snake's Victim—ls Out of Danger Lock Haven, Aug. 23. —Gust Mignot, an employe of the paper mill, was bitten twice by a copper head snake, while in quest of Huckleberries on the mountain near Bellefonte. Young Mignot, with several others, were quite successful and had gathered many quarts of ber ries, when he came upon a marshy spot. While passing this he step ped on the snake, which sank its fangs into the man's left leg. Thinking that he had been struck by a thorn he reached down with his arm when the reptile again bit him, this time on the arm. Then he saw the snake, which attempted to get away, but he dispatched it in short order and then hurried to Belief on te with all possible haste, where Dr. Locke attended him. After this Mignot went to Wil liamsport and several times had the wound cauterized by Dr. James Lubrecht. Although Mr. Mignot suffered considerably from the poisonous virus for several days, it is thought he is now out of danger. Centre County Merchant Sends Bullet Into Head Bellefonte, Pa., Aug. S3.—S. M. Bell, proprietor of a general store at Boaisburg, committed suicide yesterday by shooting himself through the head. His wife found him lying on the Hoor of his bed room with a thirty-eight calibre revolver in his hand and a bullet wound near his temple. He died an hour later. The cause assigned for the deed is despondency result ing in temporary insanity. Mr. Bell was fifty seven years old. Clinton Paine, of this place who was a hundred and one years old July 9, and whose recent trip to New York city aroused much in terest, died this morning while visiting his son at Odessa, near this city.
