"Dr. Miles' Nervine
Raised Me From
the Grave" — Mrs. Taylor 1
This is a strong statement to j
make, but it is exactly what Mrs.
Thomas Taylor, of Blum, Texas,
said in expressing her opinion of
this remedy.
"Dr. Miles' Restorative Nervine
raised me from the grave and I have
much confidence in it. I can never
say enough for your grand medicines.
If anyone had offered me SIOO.OO for
the second bottle of Nervine that I
used I would have said 'no indeed.'"
MRS. THOMAS TAYLOR,
Blum, Tex. '
Nervous exhaustion is a com- '
mon occurence of modern life.
The wear and tear on the nervous 1
system is greater now than at any
time since the world began. For
sleeplessness, poor appetite and that j
"run down" feeling, nothing is so ;
good as
Dr. Miles' Nervine
Your nerves arc your life and
lack of vital energy makes existence
a misery. Dr. Miles' Nervine will j
tone up your nervous system.
Ask any druggist. If the first bottlofalls
to benefit, your money is returned.

LAPORTE, SULLIVAN COUNTY PA. FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 1 1911.
Get off the Ticket.
We are aware that some candi
dates who expect to ask the support
of the people this fall will probably
fell aggrieved to have their past
records looked into and printed.
This should not bo so. We all
know that most candidates are
forced into running for office by
their friends, or at least so we have
been told but their friends cannot
know as well ay they do themselves
how their past records will look in
print. Wo wish to state that the
Item believes in open politics, and
that it is the duty of the Item to
assist the people in knowing whom
they are voting for, and what the
past lives and records of the candi
dates have been. It is the news
papers duty to gather these facts,
and to give them to the public in
such manner as to aid the voter in
forming an opinion as to tjic best
person to intrust with the public
business, regardless of polities.
We believe that this opinion can
best be formed from a knowledge
of the candidate's past life both in
private and public matters. We
wish to state, in time that a candi
date who knows he has done some
things which he does not want to
sec in print, but that the public
should know so as to form a cor
rect opinion of the man as to his
character and ability should not
blame the newspaper for printing
it. To all such we say letter get
oil the ticket before the campaign
opens.
The Forksville Fair.
The Annual Fair of the Sullivan
County Agricultural Society will be
held on ths grounds at Forksville
on October 3, 4, and 5. It is ex
pected that this fair will be far
superior to that of any previous
year, and a record breaking crowd
is sure to be in attendance. A
Brass Hand will be present, and
tickle the ears of music lovers.
The merry-go-round will also l>e
there as you will be aware of if
you attend this fair.
On Wednerday, October 4, will
be held the great athletic meet.
Sullivan County boasts of its great
athletes and there is sure to be
some interesting exhibitions of
the various sports.
An increase in premiums will be
given in some classes. He sure
and be there at the Forksville Fair.

That State Highway.
We have lately been ask for our
opiuionjon the new State Road law.
We have taken the trouble to look
up the Act of Assembly creating
the new Highway Department, and
the first thing we noticed, was a
long list of employees to be given
positions, and the amount of salary
attached to each. We may say we
find the plan an extremely good one
for getting the money of the state
into circulation. A salary list ag
gregating annually the sum of $lO9.
400.00, not including traveling
expenses, and an almost unascer
tainable list of smaller helpers who
may be employed at SIOOO, each
per annum is going some toward
getting money into circulation.
This is probably the best feature of
the bill, but the Act goes onto
give a large number of routes which
may be built by the state, at least
three reaching Sullivan. The Act
also gives the Highway Department
the whole right to say when and
whore the"routes are to be built.
Take it all in all it looks like the
much talked of Highway between
Philadelphia and Pittsburg.
