Cuntmins, oue of the directors of the Carnegie Trust company in New , York, were handed down, charging, among other things, grand larceny in ( the first degree. It is understood that the three in ( dictnicnts relate to the alleged lar ceny of a sum of money said to he between $200,000 and $300,000 from the Carnegie Trust company in April, 1910. It is said that the transaction in point relates to the of $300,000, ! which was made to the '.tmegie Trust company by the Nineteenth Ward ' hank and the Van Norden Trust com pany. This loan was made in the form > of a sight draft, for which the lenders were responsible. '■ It is charged that when the sight drafts came into the Carnegie Trust ! company they were indorsed in proper ; form by Robert L. Smith, vice presi dent of the bank, and turned over by ( him to be placed to the account of the trust company. Instead of which, it is > said that another officer of the b'ink ; used some hocus-pocus and directed a clerk to credit the $300,000 to his per sonal account. i t Chickenpox Closes School. Cleveland Fund Complete. It was announced in Princeton, N. J., by the tommittee having it in charge that the balance of the s!'' 000 for the Grever Cleveland meni ial tower had been raised. Saturday marked the seventy-fourth anniversary of the birthday of Mr. Cleveland and had been set as a limit for subscribing to the fund. Subscrip tions from all over the country have made it a national one. The tower, which is to be erected at the southeast corner of the grad uate school of Princeton university, will rise 165 feet above the plain on which the battle of Princeton was fought.
