Mrs. William Cheney, left on Mon
day for Seattle, Washington, to at
tend the Yukon-Alaska Exposition,
and visit relatives at Tacouia,
Wash. Tjiey will take a direct
r aite across the continent on their
way to Seattle, and on the return

trip they will take a southern route,
passing through Mexico and strike
New Orleans, where they will take
a boat and litiish the journey to
New York City by water. They
expect to return about the first of
November.
Fred Broscliart, a. twelve-year
old boy living at the tannery, had
the end of his thumb and lore-lin
ger blown off and the second fin
ger of the right hand injured by
the explosion of a dynamite cap,
last week. The boy found the cip
lying in the road and taking it in
to the house he tapped it on the
stove when the explosion occured.
The event of the season at Lake
Mokoma will take place Saturday
evening when the third annual
boat Carnival will be held. All
boats will be illuminated and gaily
decorated. At eight o'clock line
will be formed and the procession
about the lake will begin. Liberal
prizes are given by Lake Mokoma
« Company for excellence of design
and illumination. Boats supplied
free of charge to all who desire to
| compete for prizes. A grand dis
play of fireworks will take place
immediately after the carnival.
, An excursion train starting from
Halls will arrive at Mokoma at 'J:4O
p. m. returning leave Mokoma at
- 11 p. m.
