Herbert Horn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Horn of Nordmont, is in the Williamsport Hospital where he was operated on for ap pendicitis. The owners of theDushore plan ing mill expect to have the mill working full force by (lie time cold weather sets in. Mrs. L. L. Ford and daughter Mabel are spending a few days at the home of Joseph Pennington and family near Nordmont. Mr. and Mi>, Elmer Horn of Nordmont have moved into part of J, V. Finkle's residence on Muncy street. New concrete steps have been placed in front of the Odd Fellows Hall building, occupied by the Postoffice and T. J. and F. H. Ingham's law offices. Concrete construction in Laporte is develop ing rapidly and many more such improvements are planned for the near future. A railroad employes excursion on the AV. &N. B. railroad was run to Lake Mokoma Sunday. The train arrived early in the forenoon from Hughesville and brought the entire railroad family from all in termediate stations. The Commercial Hotel at this place changed owners last week and became the property of John Hassin, Jr. who has occupied and conducted business at that popular stand lor the last two years. Land lord Hassin has employed the ser vices of H. 11. Btepp to draw plans and contract for enlarging and re modeling the building. A new square front of a modern hotel de sign is one of the contemplated improvements. The interior will be completed altered and re arranged, and provided with hath room and closets. Work on the new structure will be started im mediately that completion may be expected before cold weather. Old soldiers should see that the candidate for the legislature they are asked to vote for is pledged to vote for a new pension bill at the next session. Mr. and Mrs. L. It. Bussler of j Eagles Mere gave a surprise party Saturday evening in honor of the former's brother, Henry Upmann, who has been spending a week at Eagles Mere while home for a visit.
