Mrs. W. H. Rogers, last week

receiving treatment for curvature
of the spine.

Mr. Scott Weiland of Bellfont,
was at Laporte Thursday. He re- ,
ports many industries resuming
operations after being shut down
on account of the recent panic.
An anti-saloon League for the
entire county of Bradford was or
ganized at towanda last week. The
movement takes in all the lodges,
churches and other societies in the
county that favor local option.
There are thirteen Republican
candidates for county commission
ers in Susquehanna county.
Five out of 13 Methodist preach
ers in Bucks county, one of the
garden spots of the State, receive
less than 835 > a year, it is said.
Walter Webster while operating
a dowel machine at McCartney's
mill on Tuesday was badly injured
by a bolt flying from the machine
and striding hjni on fhe aj'in, m

Mr. G. S. Eddy was painfully
injured Monday while •hauling nuif
chiliery to the Sdnes mill. While
passing a bad piece of road near the
iron bridge at Jakersyill.e the ma
chine upset out of the, sleigh box
and Mr. Eddie was caught under
neath it breaking one rib and bad
ly bruising his shoulder. He was
hospitably cared for at the home of
Mr. C. M. Hunter until arrange
ments were made to bring him
home, ami is now recovering satis
factorily from his injuries.

Ail accident which resulted fa
tally happened at the saw mill of
the Ricketts Lumber Company, at
Rickc-tts on Monday morning, when
an employe, Samuel Obe, had his
right leg torn entirely off at the
knee through having it caught in a
pulley. He was taken to the Hos
pital at Wiikes Barre, but died the
same night.
Tuesday night twins a boy and
j a girl were born to Mr. and Mrs.
D. G. Tripp of this place, and on
Wednesday morning the wife of a
brother B. J. Tripp, of Palmira pre
sented him with a 10 pound boy.
No doubt grandpa Tripp will set
'em up if you will call at the gro

to recommend to the Republicans of

sons as candidates.
For member of Assembly, Lewis
Zaner of Cherry Township; For
County Treasurer, William A. (.Tum
ble of Hills Grove Township; For
County Commissioners, F. \V. Peal,
of Fagles Mere and Frank McCarty
of Klklaud Township.
For County Auditers, G. K W ilcox
of Fox Township and Harry Bots
ford of Laporte Township.
The meeting was harmonious, and
the committee was unanimous in be
lieving that in recommending the
above ticket, it had made the best
selection possible under the circum
stances, and have given the party
the opportunity of nominating the
winning ticket,
